Long Walk to Water

My class just finished reading the book Long Walk to Water. I really like how Linda Sue Park pulled Nya and Salva's story together. I will always remember when Salva got a letter from his cousin saying that he found Salva's father. I think the theme of the story is never give up. The author states, "A step at a time, one problem at a time, just figure out this one problem." The quote shows that Salva is not giving up by taking one problem at a time.

Hook~ Argument

My name is Remi Gregory.  We are writing an argument for class.

My claim is, middle school students must wear uniforms.

I am going to use four hooks, and you tell me which one you like best.

The first hook is an anecdote.

My friend Hannah's school wears uniforms, and she said that the bullying decreased because everyone was wearing the same clothing.

The second hook is a surprising fact.

Despite the fact that students aren't exactly thrilled about wearing uniforms, some students do recognize the benefits they offer. In this survey 41% of students agreed that there seemed to be less gang activity at school as a result of the policy.

The third hook is a rhetorical question.

The argument I have chosen is that middle school students must wear uniforms. I chose this because in the morning students would not need to pick out their outfits. I know that less kids would get bullied by their clothes, because we would all be wearing the same thing.

Hello World!

My name is Remi and I have never done a blog before. My teacher Mr. Croy wanted us to create a blogger account. I'm not very familiar with blogging, but it seems kind of cool.
